What is the Year of Listening Up (YLU)?
At the end of my book, Listen Up, Kids: Foolish Dreams, Syncing with God & Running to Win, I share twelve life lessons that I highlight within the narrative. I dedicated the following year (2016) to spending a month on each one of those lessons to explore them in more detail. The goal was to help others learn to “listen up” to where, why and how God leads us.
I really encourage you to also peruse and read selections from the YLU17 Page and the YLU16 page.
For YLU18, we took a slightly different approach, studying the theology of Jonathan Edwards, launching a new service and publishing new books! It’s going to be an exciting way of refining life, on purpose. It was such an undertaking, that the study was continued through 2019.
Below is the posts related to the 2019 study.
The Year of Listening Up 2019 – #YLU19
In praying as I considered categorizing Edwards resolutions, it strongly felt they should be grouped according to the fruits of the spirit, as identified in Galatians 5:22-23 – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Some do not easily fit into their assigned area. Also, it had not been Edwards’ intention to do so. However, given these resolutions are about developing a God centered life, and the fruits are representation of that development, this seemed appropriate.
You’ll also find they span topics including, matters of time, relationships, sin, human nature, esteem, and emotions. Additionally, they speak to behavior, motives, humanity, good works, service, and so much more. They provide a context for Christian living and development.
