A sense of belonging is an important sentiment in so many arenas of life. Today, we continue exploring You Belong on the Field as part of our Year of Listening Up series. I’ve gathered seven blog posts from different sources that touch on the topic, reference different scriptures and really help flesh out an understanding of what it means to know you belong – that affirm your worth.

t reminds us that our limits exist to offer proof of our need for each other (our community of saints) and for God.

Our feelings of inadequacy remind us that our limits exist to offer proof of our need for each other (our community of saints) and for God in our lives.

Belonging on the Field & Affirming You’re Worthy of God’s Call

The Biggest Fear Keeping You From Impacting Your World (Valerie Murray at Cord of 6)

I recently discovered Cord of 6 and blogger Valerie Murray through a #100HappyDays link-up and am so thankful as the content has proven to be insightful, inspiring and uplifting. I’ve also had the good fortune to stumble onto many other blogs and bloggers through the linkup. In this post, Valerie tackles the fear of inadequacy by facing that little voice of doubt head on. She uses the story of Moses to illustrate how God equips us, but that our adequacy is in fact from God! Read Valerie’s post to know what that is such an awesome blessing.

Dare to Be God’s Beloved Today Instead of Tomorrow (Bonnie Gray at Faith Barista)

Faith Barista blogger, Bonnie Gray is another blog I’ve recently begun following.  In this post, Bonnie does a great job of pointing out how and why we find ourselves complicating the simple, which leads to paralysis. I love how she puts it: “We complicate the whisper.  Then, our hearts become conflicted with confusion.”

Is Your Inner Chatterbox Holding You Back? (Jed Jurchenko at Coffee Shop Conversations)

Similar to Valerie’s post above, Jed talks about nagging doubts, angels and devils on our shoulders and the perpetual peskiness of that inner voice that keeps chat chat chattering to hold you back and keep you from moving forward. He offers some advice and personal experiences for flicking that voice off your shoulder and taking action.

The Narrow Gate is Calling You (Robert de Brus – guest post at Dave Arnold Speaks)

Ever have sleepless nights of worry, fear, and anxiety have haunted every decision I was making? So has my friend, Robert. I think this happenstance is by design. As he points out: “It seems that everything we do that’s worthy of anything good in our lives comes with a certain level of sacrifice.”

Made with Intent (Alisa Nicaud at Flourishing Today)

I just love Alisa’s perspective and wisdom in this post that questions our the statement “I wish I was more like _____.” She references Psalm 139:14 and Jeremiah 1:5 to help us remember that God created each one of us to be who HE designed us to be.

What God Told Me the Night Before I Became a Father (Edwardo Quintana at Manly Training)

As a father of three, I can readily empathize with anyone who is about to become a parent for the first time. In my case, I had several months to prepare for the big day of arrival. Imagine getting a call to become an adoptive parent and have less than 24 hours to do those same preparations. That’s what happened to Edwardo. He shares that experience and relates as story of how God used  John 14:1-4 to ready him for the new season of life.

Limited or Not? (Gayl Wright at Thoughts and Art from My Heart)

Gayl begins this post with Psalm 147:1-5 and then calls our attention to the last line; “his understanding has no limit.” It reminds us that our limits exist to offer proof of our need for each other (our community of saints) and for God.
