Imagine applying for your dream job along with ten-thousand other applicants and the going through a very public interview process and then actually getting the gig at age 19, only to give it up.
Inconceivable! Am I right?
I mean, honestly, could you do it? Give up fortune and fame, not to mention the many opportunities for having some of the most exciting and amazing experiences any one person can hope for or dream of enjoying.
But that is exactly what Kylie Bisutti did three years after winning the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Model Search competition. She gave it up to serve the greater desires of our Lord. The more she examined her attention-seeking life while clad in underwear, flirting with men despite being married herself and indulging in unhealthy behaviors for the sake of fitting an image, the more she realized her lifestyle was in direct conflict with her Christian values.
As Bisutti explained:
God used a lot of things to bring me to this point, but one of my biggest turning points was after a photo shoot that I did where I really felt a lot of pressure to push the envelope. God really used this particular shoot to reveal to me that I was not putting Him first in a lot of things in my life, and that I had been making my career and fame an idol in my life, and I was falling into a path of destruction and bringing other people along with me.
She left the business with a simple tweet and later wrote/published a tell-all called “I’m No Angel” detailing her experiences and trials as a fashion model. Some unpleasantries between her and VS were exchanged, but Bisutti appears to have moved on and grown into the comfort of the life transformation from a Victoria’s Secret Angel to a life as a wife, mother and role model for other girls and women.
She has a couple websites and has recently started a faith centered clothing line called God Inspired Fashion, which also partners in ministry with Fight Church, a sports chaplaincy serving the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) community.
